What is HIKE?

The Fund is the continuing philanthropic project of Job’s Daughters International . Fully staffed by unpaid volunteers from throughout the united States and Canada. Total operating expenses are less then 5%.

The purpose of the Fund is to provide hearing devices for children with hearing impairments between the ages of newborn and twenty years whose parents are unable to meet this special need financially. An estimate of 100 children are provided with hearing devices each year.

Children are eligible to receive a grant providing the need is verified by a prescription from an audiologist or physician. Many of the recipients are children of working parents. The Fund has awarded many types of devices including, but not limited to, hearing aids, FM systems, closed caption converters, tactile units, alerting systems, and specialized sports equipment, to aid children with hearing loss in communication.

Flamingos have invaded Rapid City!

Bethel #44 is raising money for HIKE by flocking the yards of local citizans. Insurance is being offered to keep from being flocked, or for the removal of flamingos.

To keep flamingos from your yard the cost is $25, to have them removed is $20 ($15 if you suggest another yard for them to land in!), $10 will ensure flamingos land in someone's yard. Other donations to this worthwhile cause are also excepted.

To donate, contact Guardian Secretary Jen.
